Owen Landy Spears, Sr., 71, of Science Hill, Kentucky passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025.
He was born in the Ottenheim Community in Lincoln Co., Kentucky on June 5, 1953; son of the late Franklin and Mary (Dye) Spears. He was a retired General Contractor, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He had a deep love for hunting and fishing and was an avid sportsman. Humble and always willing to lend a hand, he would gladly give you the shirt off his back. He found joy in giving to others and had a gift for making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lou (Robinson) Spears whom he married on June 8, 1974; two sons, Owen Spears, II & (Alicia) and Mark Spears & (Amanda); four grandchildren, Braden Molden & (Katelyn), Cameron Coubert, Mila Spears, and Roman Spears; one great-granddaughter, Emma Irvine; a god-daughter, Jenny Lafavers-Floyd; siblings, Dixie Reardon, Alice Spears, George Spears, Joe Spears, and Eddie Spears.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Thomas, Pleas, Lottie, Nellie, Maggie, Johnny, Gene and Harold Spears.
A funeral service will be held at 4 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ernie Warren officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 2 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
The family requests that in honoring Owen, any floral gifts be live plants, and not cut flowers.
