Owen R. Yunker

Owen R. Yunker, age 85, of Wentworth, SD, died Thur., Sept. 19, 2024, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Services will be 10:30 am, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, at Lake Madison Lutheran Church, rural Rutland, SD. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour preceding the service. Owen was born on April 30, 1939, to Roy & Caroline (Serck) Yunker in rural Lyon County, Iowa. He attended Logan #5 Country School in Inwood, IA and high school in Lester, IA. Owen worked for many years at T&R Electric in Colman, SD in a variety of roles primarily as a truck driver. He also supplemented his career as a farmer and rancher. Following his retirement, he raised and trained horses, enjoyed restoring tractors & going to auctions.
Owen is survived by his first wife, Joann (Ferlick) Casper of Phoenix,AZ, Owen and Joann's children: Scott Yunker, of Phoenix, and Erin Browne, of Seattle, WA; granddaughter, Kailey Browne of Seattle; granddaughter, Brianna Browne, of Seattle; grandson, Joshua Reid, of Swisshome, OR; grandson, Christian Reid, of Mapleton, OR; great grandsons Joseph and Atlas Reid; his second wife, Joan Dreesen, of Cameron, MO; his sister, Nadine Binneboese, of Le Mars, IA; his brother, Garry, of Tipp City, OH; his brother, Kent (Nina), of Lewistown, MT; his sister Rosemary Robinson of Baltic; his sister-in-law, Joy, of Inwood, IA, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Kelly (Yunker) Reid; his son, Shane; and his brother, Don.
