Palmer Henry Bleichner passed away on Saturday, December 6, after a long life well-lived.
Palmer was born in New Orleans to Henry and Winnifred Bleichner. One of six children, he attended De La Salle high school then Loyola University where he met Rudona Regan, the love of his life. When Rudona and her family moved to San Francisco he followed "for love". They married and established a home in Burlingame.
Palmer and Rudona were married for 33 years until Rudona's untimely passing. During their loving marriage they raised five children all in loving relationships of their own: Elizabeth Barraza (Patricio), Pamela Scannell (Steven), Bradley Bleichner (Amy), Megan Brannan (Kyle) and Randall Bleichner (Jillian).
He was a proud grandparent of Claire (26), Emily (23), Abigail (22), Laurel (19), Loren (7), Palmer (3), and Winnifred (2 mos).
They are the Bleichner legacy.
He is also survived by his brothers Barry Bleichner and Keith Bleichner and his sister Mary Ann Langhetee.
Palmer worked at Marine Terminals Corporation in San Francisco for 30 years and then Therma in San Jose for 31 years until he finally retired at age 84.
He enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking but more than anything he loved to be surrounded by his family. He hosted numerous parties over the years celebrating birthdays, weddings, holidays and any other reason to have family and friends over to his home of which he was so proud.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate the patriarch of Team B on Saturday, December 13, at 10:30am at Our Lady of Angels in Burlingame and then to raise a toast to him with his favorite cocktail, a Manhattan, at a reception to follow.
"The measure of your real success is the one you cannot spend. It's the way your kids describe you when they're talking to a friend."
