Pam Byrd Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Valley Funeral Home on Dec. 15, 2022.
On December 14th, 2022, our loving wife and mother Pamela Byrd, age 63, gained her angel wings. Pam, as she liked to be called, was the daughter of Pat and Anna Lee Banner, and grew up on Martins Creek with a whole slew (her words not ours) of brothers and sisters. She was very proud of her humble upbringing and often recalled how although they didn't have much, her parents surrounded the entire family with love, and she wouldn't trade it for anything.
In her teen years, mom met our dad, Dennis. He was the very first, and as it turns out, the only boy she ever brought home. They married in their senior year of high school and would welcome 3 children over the next 10 years. Mom and Dad actually celebrated 45 years of marriage last February.
Mom held various jobs throughout her life. However, anyone reading this knows her true calling in life was to be a mother, and she loved it. Mom's children, grandchildren, and her fur babies truly brought joy into her heart. Whether it was making all of us (even the adults) Halloween treat bags or Easter baskets, cheering us on at ball games, or simply making us our favorite meal, she never stopped mothering us. Simply put, it made HER happy to see US happy, period.
In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by an infant sister Sandra, niece Laurel Banner, and brother-in-law Russell Byrd. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: loving husband Dennis Byrd, daughter Jennifer Farnor of Erwin, daughter Stephanie Howard and husband Tommy of Unicoi, and son William Byrd and wife Merriah of Erwin. Grandchildren: Nathan (Seth), Nick (Katie), Noell, Lucy Jo, Liam, and Oliver. Mom is also survived by a host of siblings: Anna Marie, David, Matthew, Emmanuel, Teresa, Joseph, Stephen, Mark, Lisa, Christina, Timothy, and Rebecca. She's also survived by special friend Kay Farnor and beloved puppy Dicey.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of our Mom. Come out, share stories, and be with us as we remember this special lady. Her funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 16, 2022 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Adam Howard will officiate, and her grandson Nathan Farnor will provide a eulogy. A visitation period to share memories and offer support will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Friday at Valley Funeral Home and other times at her daughter's home, 1309 Amber Dr Unicoi. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at noon at Banner Cemetery in Erwin. Serving as pallbearers will be: Mark Banner, Stephen Banner, Nick Farnor, Seth Graves, Tommy Howard, and John Paul O'dell. Liam Byrd will be an honorary pallbearer.
