Pamela Bissonnette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stephen C. Gregory and Son Cremation Service on Apr. 1, 2024.
Pamela "Pam" Lindy Bissonnette
Pamela "Pam" Lindy Bissonnette passed away on March 30th, 2024, at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Pam was born in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, on December 20th, 1956, to the late Edward and Joanne Hobbs. Growing up in a large family with four brothers and three sisters, she learned the value of love, resilience, and hard work.
Pam graduated from the Foxcroft Academy High School in 1975 and continued her studies at a 2-year business college in Portland, Maine. In 1977, she met her future husband, George, and they married on October 20th, 1979. Together, they embarked on various ventures, including starting a food stand on Church Street in 1981, which they ran for five years. In 1982, Pam founded Pam's Deli on the UVM Green, which became a beloved institution at the University of Vermont for the next 35 years. Additionally, she could be seen at the Champlain Valley Fair selling Italian sausage alongside her husband for an impressive 41 years. Pam's warm smile and strong work ethic impressed everyone she served.
During her retirement, Pam found solace in the warm embrace of Florida's winters alongside her husband, George. She often remarked that divine providence led them there, where they became cherished members of an exceptionally welcoming community, forming deep connections and making many friends. Each morning, she would rise at 4:30 AM, her path illuminated by a trusty headlamp, embarking on her daily walk. Her days would later unfold with spirited games of pickleball, followed by relaxing on the patio with friends and family.
Pam was an avid gardener with a green thumb. Her front yard bloomed with delicate and resilient roses, much like her. But it was in the backyard that she truly worked her magic, cultivating life through her vegetable garden. She would also keep herself busy sewing, knitting, or getting involved in other crafty hobbies.
She will most fondly be remembered for her beautiful smile, bright blue eyes, kindred spirit, contagious laugh, homemade carrot cake and strawberry rhubarb pie, the confidence and ability to tackle any project, and the unconditional love she provided to her family and friends. As we say goodbye, may her memory be everlasting for those who knew her.
Despite the devastating news of her diagnosis, Pam's faith remained unshaken. She knew that she would soon be leaving for a better place, but her final thoughts were of those she left behind.
Pamela was predeceased in death by her parents: Edward and Joanne Hobbs, her parents-in-law; Leonard and Rolande Bissonnette. She was also preceded in death by her son; Leonard "Lenny" Bissonnette, her son-in-law; Matthew Monahan, her brother-in-law; Richard Bissonnette, and her sister-in-law; Mamie Hobbs.
Pamela is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years; George, her daughter; Angela Monahan, her son; Raymond Bissonnette and his wife, Danielle. Additionally, she leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Jillian and Declan Monahan, and Nora, Eden, and Remy Bissonnette; her brothers: Jeff, Tony, Andy and his wife, Susan, and Kenny Hobbs and his wife, Stephanie; and her sisters: Joyce Patterson and her husband, Bill, Debbie Donovan and her husband, Kevin, and Lorinda Newmister and her husband, David.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear" – Alex MacLean.
A catholic mass and burial will be held on a later date at the Resurrection Park Cemetery. The family is also planning a celebration of life, which they will also announce.

I will always remember Pam, and all of the time we spent playing stick ball, kick the can, and much more around the neighborhood. This is the only picture of the whole crew we have, and I am forever grateful to Pam for coming out the back door with a camera that day to preserve this moment in time for us. I cherish this photo and will always be thankful to Pam for giving us this gift. Sending my love to you all.
