Pamela Carol Greene Richardson Whitaker, 62 of Jackhorn, KY passed away on Sunday, November
9th 2025 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Hazard, KY. She was with her son Logan, husband, Chris,
and many of her family and friends at her bedside.
Pammy (as known to many) was born in Dante, VA on January 6th , 1963 to Jim and Linda Greene of
Coeburn, VA. She was the smallest BIG sister to Jimmy Wayne Jr. and sister to Ramona Lynne. Pammy grew
up on Carter Stanley Highway in the Smith Ridge area of Coeburn, and was a 1981 graduate of Ervinton High
School in Nora, VA.
Pam was a former employee of Pepsi Cola in Norton, VA, and also worked at the Virginia Department
of Employment until moving to Kentucky in the early 90s after meeting Arthur Richardson Jr., and the two of
them married in 1992. Shortly thereafter, they purchased their first home in Jackhorn. From that point on, the
community started to get to know the feisty 4-foot 9-inch package of dynamite with a heart of gold that made
her larger than life.
Pam and Arthur's union produced some very good things, like a wonderful son, Logan. Arthur taught
Pam and Logan how to fish (which was not that easy, at least the way they fish), and Pam was introduced to
her sister-in-law Chandala, a friendship that would never be broken, like all best friends should be. After 8
years, Pam and Arthur's marriage came to an end, but they eventually renewed their friendship.
Pam met Chris on November 11 th , 2000, and by chance it happened at the golf course driving range in
Jenkins. Their friendship over the next year became closer. Then, on April 1 st , 2002, tragedy hit when Pam's
home was destroyed by fire. Now, everyone would start to see the real fighter instinct in her. Pam and Chris
became inseparable, and they moved back into the house in less than six months, something that most would
have said was impossible. They continued their work and got to know the community by installing city water
service in nearly half of the homes in Jackhorn.
Pam was an amazing lady. She would open her home to almost anyone in need or make sure that they
would be okay. She loved all children, and the children loved her. Everybody always said the children thought
she was a child, too.
Pam's last month was so very tough, a fight that the toughest among us couldn't survive, but she didn't
stop fighting. The world has lost a loving soul, but the LORD in heaven gained a loving child.
Pam is survived by her husband, Chris Whitaker of Cromona, KY, and son, Logan Richardson of
Jackhorn, KY; Mother-in-Law, Bobbie Whitaker, Cromona; Ex-Husband Arthur Richardson, Jr., and his mother,
