Pamela Vanderhorst

Pamela Gie Vanderhorst transitioned peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the age of 69. Pamela attended Orleans Parish Public Schools and was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen's Class of 1973. She also attended Southern University at New Orleans. She is preceded in death by her firstborn, Sylvester Brown, Jr.; loving parents, Rev. Edward C., Sr. and Irene Hoover Gie; siblings, Alonzo J. and Leonard Gie of California and Kathy Gie Armstead; niece, Dawn Kristy Wright and nephew, Ralph Lomax, Jr. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Booker T. Vanderhorst, though they had been separated for many years; children, Tamah and DeLance Vanderhorst (Sarah); grandchildren, DeLani Vanderhorst, Ryleigh Robinson and Aziz Delance Abd-elaziz; siblings, Judith Ann Lomax, Genevia Gie Wombley and Edward C. Gie, Jr. (Joyce); Godchildren, Terez Clayton and Gary Pollard; devoted friends, Zalia Flowers and Robert Glass, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at New Zion Baptist Church, 2319 Third Street, New Orleans, LA 70113 on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and a repast at Ashe Cultural Arts Center, 1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70113 from 12-3:00 p.m.
