Parnell Dale Atencio, age 43, of Nageezi, New Mexico passed away on August 17, 2025, in Ogden, Utah. He was born on May 4, 1982, in Gallup, New Mexico, to Caroline Atencio and born for Todichiinii clan.
In 1998, Parnell moved to Salt Lake City with his aunt and cousins in pursuit of a better future. It was there that he later established his own family, building a life rooted in love, resilience, and dedication.
Parnell earned his GED and worked diligently as a salt delivery driver, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and commitment. He held a deep passion for the trucking industry and took great pride in his career. A self-taught mechanic, he acquired much of his knowledge from his uncles, always eager to learn and improve his crafts.
Parnell was very outgoing and made friends wherever he went. He will always be remembered for his laughter, his silly jokes, and his ability to bring joy to those around him. A devoted Raiders fan, he loved sports and could often be found cheering for his team or enjoying movies with his loved ones. Above all, he was a caring, loving, and supportive family man whose presence will be deeply missed.
Parnell is survived by his daughters, Arianna Atencio, Neveah Atencio, and Leticea Perez; his spouse, Callista Dejoelie; his granddaughter, Aura Fernandez; his sisters, Alyassa Atencio and Tesia Atencio; and his mother, Caroline Atencio.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vanessa Atencio; his grandparents, Ruth and Albert Atencio; and his cousin, Shavon Dee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Isaac Fernandez, Trey Martinez, Alfonso Atencio, Dalvas Begay, David Newtzie, and Vern Martin.
Parnell’s legacy of hard work, devotion, laughter, and love for his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
