Parren was very passionate about his work. He will always be remembered. As we reflect on his life may the thoughts found at Revelation 21: 3, 4 bring comfort.

This was my friend, my Godfather of Minority Business and the only Congressional Member who I can assure our country was the one most relevant to Small and Minority Company struggles...there was never a time he did not respond to my phone calls..personally.. and act as well on all that he could within and beyond his powers to assist me. I am saddend by the lost..there is no other like him.

A youngster whose life was changed by you..... US Killing US Equals Genocide

February 21, 2008

I first met Parren Mitchell in the early 80's when I was about 12 years old. I was involved in Us killing Us = Genocide where Parren Mitchell would walk in the front for miles handing out literature with 100 youngsters marching on his sides and behind him; through the streets of Baltimore City. This was during a time where "Black on Black" shootings was a forefront concern because of the alarming numbers of Blacks killing each other.
He was a wonderful, personable man who made everyone feel like they were family.
Rest in peace.

Parren Mitchell made many positive contributions to the City of Baltimore. I remember him from my childhood in the 70s & 80s. May his family be comforted by the promises of God at John 5:28,29

“Civil Rights” does not judge by color, rejects no race, excludes no sex and accepts all religions. “Civil Rights” is defined by two words: Dignity and Respect. - Both given & accepted. Congressperson, Parren Mitchell not only understood this, he lived this as an example to everyone. Thank you. “Never stop giving them hell” even in Heaven, sir.

Our pioneers have certainly fought courages battles. To the family: You have my sympathy. Mr. Parren Mitchell is a named associated with positiveness for his fellow man/people. Our young people/men to a large degree should boom with filling colleges and box with the mind for the way has been been paved with blood, tears, and perseverance. I hope that he received his flowers while he could smell them. Nevertheless,I say thank you. Comforting scriptures: I Thess 4:16-18, Rev 20:4-6,and Eccel 9:5-7.

Congressman Parren J. Mitchell
Gone But Not Forgotten
(April 29, 1922 to May 28, 2007)

The chilling grim news came that yet another "Soldier of Civil Rights "is silenced.
This chilling news was tempered with reflections and memories quickly recalled.
Specifically, the good times mixed with the trials and tribulations associated with the Civil Rights struggle helped to visually capture the accomplishments made.
We reserved kudos for the accomplishments and remained focused with a vigilent "Eye On The Prize" as the struggle continued.
Once in a while, you may be fortunate enough to meet, know and learn from people that are responsible for being outstanding examples of what every good person should aspire to become.
Congressman Parren James Mitchell is counted among those distinquished ranks.
Personally speaking, how fortunate we were to have known this great statesman.
Congressman Parren James Mitchell's life's work as a civil rights activist , leader and a compassionate understanding family person dedicated his life to making injustice become just for human kind has come to an end.
However, his rich legacy will live on forever.
Rest in peace knowing that your Earthly job has been done well.
You will be missed but remembered.
Sincere expressions of heartfelt condolences are extended to the Mitchell family during your time of grief.
Know that weeping may endure a night but there is joy in the morning.
Sorrowfully Submitted,

Cheryl Polk
