Pat, by any objective measure, possessed the greatest command of his instrument in the history of jazz guitar. Particularly regarding his earlier recordings, there's yet to be another jazz guitar player with an approximate ability to play lines with the clarity, accuracy, purposefulness, timing, and musicality as Pat. What's more, the type of intellectual curiosity he shared with the world transcended the musical realm and led to concepts whose reach are limitless. The only aspects of our world that possess actual immortality, are certain types of genes and ideas. I think there's no question that Pat's musical and conceptual ideas will persevere over the ages. Pat has now joined the ranks of "one of the greatest, most talented, most gifted... to have ever done it" regardless of domain. What a privilege to have been able to see him perform live. Here's to Pat and the immortality of his music.

I had only recently come across this amazing artist, teacher and communicator extraordinaire. He in this short time of my discovery has become an inspiration for me in life’s obstacles through the “Nature of Guitar”. Move forward Mr Martino.

I'll never forget the first time I see him play. It was at the Hurricane Bar in Pittsburgh, with Don Paterson on
B3 organ & Billy James on drums. He was one of the greatest guitar players I ever new, Amazing

I will always remember when I saw Pat at the Tin Angel. I was studying his Creative Force Part 1 and I could not find a copy anywhere of Part 2 because it was out of print. My wife contacted Pat or Joe and he got back to her and said to meet us at the back bar before the show. Pat was there waiting and went backstage and gave me a copy of part 2 amongst other instructional items. I will never forget that moment of generosity and thoughtfulness
He then proceeded to go onstage and just amaze me with his virtuosity. Thank you Pat and Rest In Peace.

Very sad Pat is no longer in our world. He was uncommonly kind as well as talented. My husband and I had the pleasure of attending many of his performances during the years we lived in Washington, D.C., and hosted him and Aya at our apartment for two master classes scheduled around his Blues Alley gigs. My husband still has recordings of the messages Pat left on our answering machine, confirming details and inviting us to attend Blues Alley as his guests. Another highlight for me was seeing him at Lisner Auditorium with the Airmen of Note, from the front row - wow! Rest in power, Maestro. Your memory will ever be our blessing. ❤
