Patria E. Moskal ObituaryApril 1, 1937– May 19, 2025
Patria Moskal or Pat as what her relatives and friends fondly call her, passed away peacefully in her home away from home in Mayfair, Chicago at age 88. She was in the loving presence of her sisters Tomasa(Nena) and Lilia. Over the last few years her family, especially Nena, was dedicated to caring for Patria as her health declined.
In 1937, Patria was born in Danao City, Cebu in Philippines. She was raised by her devoted parents Apolonio(+) and Higinia(+). She graduated with a Bachelors of Dentistry at University of East in Manila, Philippines. She started her Pre Dentistry in Southwestern University in Cebu City, Philippines.
In March of 1972, Patria emigrated to the United States with her sister Nena and they settled in New York. At that same year they moved to Chicago and worked as a dental assistant for R.D. Collins DDS until she retired in 2009. In 1979, she married Frank Moskal at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Chicago. They were blessed to celebrate 46 years of marriage this past April 20th. They resided in a home in Homewood.
Patria was the matriarch of the family. She was intelligent, strong willed, focused, resilient and an independent woman. She could also be silly and playful. Patria was a beloved wife, loving sister, caring cousin, adored auntie, a spoiled grandmother to her grandkids Aaron and Brian Jr. and a loyal friend to her loved ones. She always remembers your birthday or any special occasions and would call to greet you. Patria had an unwavering devotion to Jesus and was anchored in her faith.
Patria had an unbreakable bond with her sisters and they were inseparable. They took many memorable trips to Las Vegas for vacation. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and enjoyed visiting religious shrines and churches. Patria had a deep affection for dogs and was a dog mom to Rocky, Richie and Monique. At the end, she treasured the company of the fur grand babies Vader and Teddy. Patria will be remembered for her heartwarming presence and kindness to all those who knew her.
She is survived by her sister Tomasa Ypil, sister Lilia Odon. She was preceded in death by her sister Cecilia Ypil and brother-in-law Francisco Odon. Patria is the fourth among siblings following Perfecto(+)/Margarita(+), Apolinario(+)/Inocenta(+), Rosita(+), Francisco(+), Tomasa, Leona(+), Lilia/Francisco(+) and Cecilia(+)
