Patrice Malone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rodgers-Awkard & Lyons Funeral Home on Sep. 12, 2025.
Patrice Louise Malone, 74, passed away on August 21, 2025. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church and a retired Para-Legal. Services will be Saturday, August 30, 2025 beginning with visitation at 3 pm and funeral service to follow at 5 pm at her church, 1501 Louis Coleman Jr. Drive.

Patrice was renowned for her profound faith, brilliance, determination, and generous spirit. Possessing a keen intellect and a natural aptitude for problem-solving, she pursued higher education at Indiana State University. As a paralegal, she used her skills to write grants that secured vital resources and opportunities for her community. Her commitment to literacy and education was evident in her contributions to the library at New Zion, her involvement in the Reading Is Fundamental program, and her establishment of the Reaching for Excellence after-school and summer programs at New Zion. Additionally, she volunteered at Stephen Foster Traditional Academy along with the Grannies Program and dedicated herself to teaching generations of children to read during Camp Calvary at Historic Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Much of her life's work was spent with children-uplifting, encouraging, and building them up so they could see possibilities beyond their circumstances. Patrice's favorite color was yellow, a reflection of her bright and steady presence. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, her intelligence, and her unwavering dedication to others.

Sister Malone was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Malone; father, Eugene Malone; sisters, Darlene Dorsey, and Jyl Babette Malone; brother Dale Malone; and Aunt Pat Adcock. She is survived by her son, Murray Malone; her daughter-in-law, Tyra Malone; her sibling, Michael G. Malone; grandchildren, Mershon Malone, Jocelyn Malone, and Marcellous Malone; and many cherished family members and friends who continue to uphold her legacy of strength and compassion.
