Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Patricia "Patti" Lee (Neff) Alters, 67, of Bellefonte, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Born on May 30, 1955, in South Fork, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael Aloysius and Fern Cecilia Betz Neff. In 1999, she married the love of her life, Daniel "Dan" L. Alters, who survives her at home after sharing over 23 years of marriage together.
Patti attended Forest Hills High School. She continued to live and work near her hometown of South Fork for many years before moving to the Williamsport area, and then more recently when she moved to Bellefonte. She enjoyed working for many years at both the DeGol Organization in Altoona, and John Savoy and Son in Montoursville, where her was adoringly referred to as "Sunshine" because of her smile and warm personality, until her retirement in 2012. Throughout her career, her kindness, beautiful smile, and easy-going personality afforded her the opportunity to build numerous lifelong friendships.
In addition to her husband, Dan, she is survived by their children from previous relationships: Barry Noll (Amanda), Deborah Noll Biter (Richard), Mark Noll, Jennifer Alters Carlton (Richard), and Daniel F. Alters (Cortney Marshall), and their nine beautiful grandchildren: Rose Noll, Caleb Biter, Arden Carlton, Aubrey Biter, Mitchell Carlton, Mason Biter, George Noll, Elizabeth Carlton, and Otis Alters. Also surviving is a sister, Deborah Louise Garcia (Jesse), of Chicago, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Michael Eugene Neff, and Gary James Neff, and two sisters, Lois Ann Townsend, and Carolyn Marie Lefort.
Patti was a former member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Williamsport. She faithfully served her Lord in various ways, including the many years of communion preparation and the church's Partners-in-Care Program. After moving to Bellefonte, Patti and Dan attended Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte, although her battle with breast cancer prevented her from being able to serve in the capacity that she was used to. Speaking to Patti's resilience, her faith in God never wavered throughout her seventeen-year battle against breast cancer.
She enjoyed watching and identifying birds, especially bluebirds and tree swallows that she and Dan attracted in bluebird trails that they had established on their property and at Lime Bluff Park near Hughesville. With her inviting and accepting personality, she truly never met a stranger, and formed many friendships through all walks of her life. More than anything, Patti treasured the times that she spent with her family, especially her grandkids, who brought endless joy to their Nana and Pop.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 10 – 11 A.M., at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will follow the visitation with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
Patti felt a strong calling to help with the poverty crisis, especially organizations that served her local community. She regularly donated to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
