Patricia Stepnick Obituary

Patricia Ann (Mollick) Stepnick, 87, of Santa Clara, CA, formerly of Plum Borough, passed away on June 27, 2025, at Stanford Hospital. She was surrounded by her daughter, Renee Stepnick Blanda; grandson, Mitchell Blanda; son-in-law, Greg Blanda; and close family friends. For the last 14 years, Pat lived with her daughter's family in Santa Clara, CA. Prior to that, she lived in Plum Borough, where she and her late husband, William Stepnick, raised their family during 53 years of marriage. Pat is the daughter of the late James Mollick and Ethel Swartz Mollick of Grapeville. Pat has a son, Dr. Terry Stepnick; a grandson, Alex Stepnick of Plum Borough, PA, and a sister, Catherine Korzen of Donegal, PA. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Mollick of Grapeville, PA. Pat leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends. Pat fulfilled her dream for 38 years as a kindergarten teacher at the East Suburban YMCA Y-Tots. She was known for her innovative teaching methods, deep insight into child development, and the kindness she extended to every student. Beyond the classroom, Pat was a dedicated community member. She served as PTA president, Ladies Guild president, and homeroom mom and was an active member of the Red Hat Society, to name a few. Pat loved to travel. One of her most treasured trips was to Rome with her daughter's family, when her grandson, Mitchell, was singing for the Pope. That is where she met and was blessed twice by Pope Francis, a memory she held close to her heart. Her faith was important to her; she was a founding member of Our Lady of Joy Church, where she found strength and fellowship. Pat had a deep appreciation for the arts and was a lifelong patron, with her favorite being the Pittsburgh Opera, where she had season tickets for many years. Pat's family was the center of her world. Her legacy lives on, especially in her grandson, Mitchell, who shared a special bond and home. Despite health challenges in her later years, Pat embraced life fully. Pat will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher. Her memory will continue to inspire all that knew her. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at MAURICE L. KNEE LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road, Plum, PA 15239. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Our Lady of Joy R. C. Church of Holy Family Parish. Entombment will be at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. A celebration of life luncheon will follow at the Lamplighter Restaurant.

My deepest condolences to the Stepnick family. I had the privilege of administering Holy communion to Pat and Bill. I enjoyed our conversations about family and life with laughter. May the perpetual light shine upon her R.I.P.

Renee and family,
I am sincerely sorry for your loss.
I have known your mom for 50 some odd years. She was a very wonderful person. We talked on the phone every day and often laughed about the things we did when we were younger and when we married and didn't know how to cook. She was truly a remarkable person, I will miss our talks. I know you will have many happy memories of her.
