Patricia "Patsy" Scoggins Aspinwall, 76, of Thomasville, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at Whiddon Shiver Funeral Home on Monday, December 1st, at 11:30 am with Pastor Ann Nunnally officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:30 am to 11:30 am in the funeral home chapel.

Patsy was born on October 20, 1949, in Jacksonville, FL, to the late Dallas (Bobby) F. Scoggins and Agnes Parramore Scoggins. She married Jerry Aspinwall on June 17th, 1967, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2025. She was a graduate of Thomasville High School – Class of 1967. In her early years, Patsy enjoyed working at Clanton's Veterinary Hospital. She worked there for many years and loved her job working with all the animals. She was known to rescue and rejuvenate any creatures, great and small, when called upon, especially by her young, empathetic children. It didn't matter what it was, whether it be a baby bird that fell from a tree, a snake needing to be relocated, a lamb that needed nursing, or an orphaned field mouse; you name it, she would nurture anything back to health.

Patsy even made a loving pet out of that field mouse, which she named Peanut, and he wouldn't leave her side except when she put him in his modified gerbil cage equipped with a running wheel and looping play tunnels. Wherever Patsy was, he was right there with her, poking his head out of her sleeve or the top of her sweater. It was the cutest friendship. She was very knowledgeable and had the kindest and gentlest heart, with a love for all things. When her children were all old enough to attend school, she began working as a lower school teacher's aide at Brookwood School. During this time, she was adored by all of her students and grew to be great friends with all the teachers she worked with over the years. With her natural artistic abilities and good temperament with kids, she was a great asset to any classroom she entered. After 25 years or more, she chose to retire to spend quality time with her grandchildren and help care for them.

Patsy and Jerry loved spending time in the mountains and took their family vacations there every Summer and Fall. She and Jerry eventually bought a home in Blairsville, GA, where they would spend holidays and Summers with their children and grandchildren, hiking and enjoying the outdoors. After enjoying many wonderful years, they decided to sell and buy a vacation home closer to Thomasville, settling on the Gulf of St. George Island, FL, where Patsy spent her later years enjoying family, making new friends, and soaking up the sun on the beach. Patsy lived a fulfilling life filled with love, family, and friends. She will always be remembered for her kind and caring heart, as well as her excellent strength and spunky personality.

She is survived by her children, Chris Aspinwall and Amy C. Aspinwall, both of Thomasville; grandchildren, Ellie Aspinwall and Ben Bailey; and a great-granddaughter, Blakely Hogan. She is also survived by her brother, Frank Scoggins, of Thomasville, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Franklin Blake Aspinwall, and her sister-in-law, Mary Warren Scoggins.
