Patricia "Patty" (Tuohy) Austin, 63, of Berlin, beloved wife of Marc Austin, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025, with the grace and courage she carried throughout her life. She was born on July 20, 1962, in Canton, MA, just outside of Boston.
Patty's journey through life was one of passion and dedication. After graduating from the University of Quinnipiac School of Nursing, she served as an oncology nurse at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, offering not just medical care, but also hope and strength.
Besides her husband Marc, Patty is survived by her children, Megan and Matt; her siblings, Judy and husband Rick Connolly of Bridgewater, MA; her brother, Joe of Wareham, MA; her mother-in-law, Sue Austin of Newington, CT; her brother-in-law, Jeff Austin and his partner Carrie Gilroy of Bradenton, FL; her sister-in-law, Ellen Monroe and her husband Mark of Berlin, CT, several nieces and nephews; her special friends Jodi Rumley, Betsy Laska, and Donna Tarushka; and her special golden doodle, Guinness; Patty was predeceased by her parents, Betsey and Joe Tuohy, and father-in-law, Milton Austin.
Patty had a zest for life, an infectious laugh, and her friendships were often the source of many stories. She was an avid sports fan for her favorite teams: Quinnipiac Hockey, the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. She was the embodiment of 'Boston Strong', a phrase she'd always lived by. It was their love of sports that brought Patty and Marc together; the two first met at Fenway Park in 1987. Patty's annual trips to Smugglers Notch, VT, and the Caribbean family vacations, especially to Aruba, will be treasured memories. Patty and Marc's special European cruises to celebrate monumental anniversaries were each one more exciting than the last. She had a love for music and concerts.
Above all, Patty was the person who was always there for others, no matter how she felt. We will remember Patty by the warmth of her embrace and the cherished memories she has left us. Patty Austin, our beloved friend, nurse, and Lupus warrior, will forever be in our hearts.
Calling hours will be Sunday, November 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, at St. Paul's Church, 461 Alling Street, Kensington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Patty's name may be made to Lupus Foundation (www.lupus.org) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org). Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com

One fond memory pertains to the blizzard of 1978 as we picked up Mary Jane on the way back home. We idled in traffic in my pick up for 3 hrs on canton street as snow piled up. I remember Patti´s school graduation song was Turn the Page. Music, Sports and helping others were her passions. Go Huskies!

You meet great people in life on occasion, Patty was one of those people. Although we haven´t talked since high school days, we stayed in touch and said hi on FB once in a while. May she RIP and my sincere condolences to her family for their loss
