Patricia Ann "Patty" Black, age 88, of Canal Winchester, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born on November 25, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of Florence H. (Harley Judy) Snyder-Judy and Alfred C. Guyer.
A graduate of Groveport Madison High School, Class of 1954, Patty lived a life marked by compassion, devotion, and faith. She had a servant's heart-always putting others before herself, lifting them up in prayer, and extending kindness to everyone she met. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was a devoted member and faithful attendee of Lithopolis United Methodist Church. Whether it was through her work with the Groveport Madison Alumni Association, The Boy Scouts of America, or quietly helping those in need, Patty found her greatest joy in serving others.
Above all, Patty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her ministry, and she made a career out of loving, guiding, and nurturing each member with patience and grace. She was a prayer warrior, a gentle encourager, and the spiritual cornerstone of her family.
In addition to her parents, she is reunited in Heaven with her cherished husband of 69 years, Charles E. Black, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2023.
Patty leaves behind her children: Charlie (Liz) Black, Jr., Canal Winchester; Gregg (Sheri) Black, Marietta; and Diana (Bill) Haynes, Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Laurie (Andy) Runk, Chaz (Hillary) Black III, Kristen (Anthony) Turner, Vince (Jess) Black, Nate (Elizabeth) Black, Luke (Nathalia) Black, Heather (Nate Long) Haynes-Long, David Haynes, Greg (Jess) Haynes, and Zach Haynes; 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Harriet Downey.
Friends and family are invited to gather for visiting hours on Sunday, July 27, from 4:00 to 7:00PM at Lithopolis United Methodist Church, 80 N. Market St,
Lithopolis, OH 43136. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 10:30AM, also at the church, with an hour of visitation prior.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to those who lovingly walked alongside Patty during her final season, especially Angie, Jaklynne, Addy, Bea, Megan, Deb, Tammy, Linda, and Barb.
