Patricia Real Bobbin Patricia Bobbin, 94, (called Pat or Trish or Mom or Grandmother) passed away on September 1, 2022 at Riderwood Village in Silver Spring, Maryland where she lived since 2005. She was born to Mary Ellen and Edward Real on September 18, 1927 in Waterbury, Connecticut. Despite her days being dimmed in the past years by dementia, Pat had a long and fulfilling life.
Pat was pre-deceased by her husband John Bobbin, also from Waterbury, and is survived by their four children: Greg Bobbin (Valeria) of North Salem NY; Jeb Bobbin (Sue) of Hamden CT; Marilyn Bobbin of Washington DC; and Sarah Bobbin of Alexandria VA. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren: John Novak (Lauren) and their children Henry and Miles of Washington DC; Buck Bobbin (Meg) of Albany NY; Mary Novak of San Francisco, CA; and Peggy Dente (Erik) and their son Nolan of Anacordes, WA; step-grandchildren Katy McNicol (Jonny) and their children Lila and Simon of Hamden, CT; and Brian Dillman of Tamarac, FL.
Pat attended High School in Waterbury, CT and graduated from the College of New Rochelle with a degree in education. Before marrying, she taught grammar school. She and John raised their children in Newtown and then New Canaan, CT. When her children were grown, she returned to teaching, focusing on pre-school education. One of Pat's passions was history as seen through historic homes. Her work as a docent at the Hammond Harwood House while living in Annapolis Maryland gave her considerable satisfaction and joy. She was also a self-proclaimed dog woman, and she loved travel. When their children were young, the family's camping trips across the U.S. blossomed for her into a love for world travel when they moved to Germany in 1972 for three years. After John passed, Pat continued to take trips with friends and family, including visiting her children living in Europe and Latin America. She took great pleasure and pride in her children's successes and the people they became, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
The family will celebrate Pat's life at a time to be determined, when her remains are interred in New London, CT alongside her loving husband John. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat's memory can be made to the
