Patricia A. Brand

Patricia A. Brand of Cozad passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Emerald Care Nursing at the age of 75. Pat was born on September 8, 1950 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Delmar and Alice (Miles) Maaske. She was a dedicated and loving individual known for her caring spirit and compassion, particularly during her long career in nursing.

Pat earned her nursing degree after attending Clarkson College of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated in 1971. She worked diligently in various locations, including Brighton Colorado, Kearney and Cozad Nebraska. She then spent six years as a state surveyor for the State of Nebraska until her return to the Cozad Hospital and her eventual retirement. Her dedication to her patients earned her a place in the Cozad Health Hall of Fame in 2015.

She cherished her time with family and loved creating memories camping at various places across the state. She also made fond memories spending time coloring with her grandchildren. Family was everything to her, and she took great pride in working on family genealogy, making beautiful floral arrangements, and crafting. In her later years, Pat enjoyed traveling south, exploring new places and experiences.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Pat was known for her wonderful sense of fashion; she always looked nice and carried herself with grace. She married Terry Brand on July 24, 1982, and through this union, welcomed his three children into her heart and family. Pat will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Alice Maaske; sisters, Cynthia Maaske and Marie Maaske; in laws, Alvin and Mavis Brand.

Survivors include her husband, Terry Brand of Cozad; children, Jason Brand of Elkhorn, Amanda (Justin) Snyder of Lincoln and Nicholas (Lisa) Brand of Yutan; brothers, Les (Tammie) Maaske of Cozad and Kent (Jackie) Maaske of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Samantha, Dylan, Katelyn, Taytum, Cynch, Aubrey, Raygen, Hudson, Amelia, Claire and Augustus; great grandchildren, Melody, Westin, Maylyn, Willow, Thatcher and Braxton; and many other extended family and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Memorial book signing with family present will be Monday, December 15, 2025 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Berryman Funeral Home.
