Patricia Ann (Hunt) Bruno, formerly of Wakefield, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis A. Bruno, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.
Patricia is survived by her loving children, Kristin (Bruno) Archambault and Andrew Bruno, their spouses Glen Archambault and Beth Lipari-Bruno, and her five cherished grandchildren - Hannah, Katherine, Jack, Isabella, and Myles.
Known affectionately as Pat to family and friends, she grew up in East Providence, the devoted daughter of the late Clifford M. and Annie R. (Martin) Hunt. A proud graduate of East Providence High School's Class of 1963, Pat went on to earn her bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1967, where she was an enthusiastic member of both the Ramettes and Sigma Kappa sorority.
Following graduation, Pat began a rewarding career in education within the Cranston school system, where she inspired generations of students. It was while teaching English at Cranston High School East that she met her future husband, Lou. Over the course of her career, she taught English and Mathematics at Cranston East, Park View, and Hugh B. Bain schools. After earning her master's degree from Providence College, she transitioned into guidance counseling at the Cranston Area Career and Technical Center, where she provided encouragement, compassion, and direction to countless young people.
Beyond her classroom duties, Pat served as class and yearbook advisor at Cranston East and loved chaperoning student trips to Europe alongside Lou - adventures that created treasured memories with her students and colleagues alike. After retirement, she continued teaching mathematics at The Prout School in Wakefield, once again working side by side with Lou, who taught Italian and Spanish there.
Pat approached life with endless curiosity and a fearless spirit. Whether learning to cross-country ski, tackling home repair projects, or exploring the intricacies of calculus and engineering, she embraced every new challenge with enthusiasm. Ever the adventurer, she could be found hiking volcanoes, exploring national parks, or discovering new cultures abroad - always with a sense of wonder, courage, patience, and good humor.
A woman of many passions, Pat was a voracious reader who eagerly awaited each new novel from her favorite authors. She loved word and number puzzles and could often be found absorbed in the daily crossword or sudoku with her beloved dog Tori Rose by her side. During the warmer months, her joy was found in her garden, proudly guiding guests through her colorful flowers and sharing the stories behind each bloom.
Pat was also remarkably talented with her sewing machine. From perfectly tailored family clothing to handcrafted dolls during the Cabbage Patch Kids craze, her creations were made with care and artistry. Later, she delighted her grandchildren with custom wardrobes for their American Girl dolls and eventually turned her creativity toward quilting. What began with simple patterns evolved into intricate works of art featuring custom appliqués, hand-dyed fabrics, detailed beadwork, and striking geometric designs. Her quilts earned numerous awards, and one of her proudest achievements was having her piece "Bear Paws" exhibited at the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky.
