Patricia Ann Burnside

Patricia (Pat) Ann Burnside peacefully went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina at the age of 92. Born in Gary, Indiana to Merrick Thomae and his wife, Imogene, Pat lived nearly 50 years in northwest Indiana. In the early 1980s, Pat moved to the Charlotte, North Carolina area where she lived the remainder of her life. Pat built a lengthy career in banking, including over a decade in mortgage banking at First Union National Bank and several years at Carolina Mortgage Services. Pat’s only sibling, Merrick (Tom) E. Thomae, of Merrillville, Indiana preceded her in death. Pat is survived by her children, Laura Burnside and William (Bill) Burnside and his wife, Sally, all of Charlotte; and her grandchildren, Ashley Burnside of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and Cameron Burnside of Charlotte. In her post-retirement years, Pat enjoyed regularly hosting a women’s Bible study and prayer group in her home, listening to Christian music, gardening in her yard, and visiting out-of-town family. She was a member of Central Church. Pat was a 20+ year breast cancer survivor who deeply loved her family and her Lord. We will greatly miss her. Our family sincerely thanks the caregivers at Brookdale-South Park for their loving care of Pat throughout the last 2 years as well as Via Health Partners (hospice care) who were so helpful these past few months.
