Hancock, Patricia Carol (Pat) of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on August 13th, 2022 at Porta Caeli house of the Catholic Charities.
Pat was born in Tulsa on January 1st, 1954 to Edwin E. Claytor, Jr and Mary Patricia Walker Claytor. She graduated from Nathan Hale class of 1972 and attended Oklahoma State University where she was an Education major and studied Early Childhood Development. Unfortunately, she was not able to complete her degree because she became mentally ill, and suffered from this her entire life. This did not mean she became bitter, she retained her sweet disposition, but meant she couldn't lead a normal life like everyone else. Like everyone else, she had friends who helped her navigate the world and made her world brighter.
She got married on October 23rd, 2004 to George Hancock, Jr. The next 5 years at their apartment at Inhofe Plaza until his death in 2009 were the happiest for Pat.
After his death, she rekindled a friendship with Daniel Smith and his mother Maria, whom she met when she and Daniel lived at the Saville Apartments. They became Pat's guardian angels here on earth. They visited regularly and helped Pat in every way they could and have many fond memories of dancing and gossiping in Pat's living room.
Pat loved many things in addition to talking with her friends on the phone: she loved dogs and kept one for a while, named Mikey Tinker; reading magazines, especially Cosmo; having lovely clothes, shoes and jewelry; enjoying Taco Bueno/Taco Bell and mexican food in general; dancing and fun loud music; keeping up on her makeup, hair and nails; being generous; and gossiping about the other people in the building at Inhofe Plaza. She was a very colorful person and had her own sense of style.
After the death of her parents, it became evident that she needed a more formal guardian and her younger sister stepped into that role. She eventually moved her from Inhofe Plaza, which had deteriorated both in the apartment itself and the clientele. It was time for Pat to move and her sister had been relating her trials
to her neighbor and her WaWa (water aerobics) friends that she swam with regularly. Those friends sprang into action and donated items from their own houses to help furnish Pat's new apartment. Also, Diana with Family and Children's identified some grant money to pay for a new couch, chair and bed for Pat, as most everything had to be left behind at the old apartment, due to the conditions. Because of this, Pat was able to walk into a fully furnished apartment on day one!
She resided at Park Village Apartments until she got a new "apartment" at Porta Caeli house where they lovingly looked after her until she peacefully passed away.
Pat is survived by sister, Cathy Barney and husband Bill of Tulsa; brother, Mike Claytor of Tulsa; brother Tom Claytor and wife Debbie of Placitas, NM. Also surviving are uncle Richard Claytor and wife Linda of Fort Worth, TX; uncle John Schwenker of Tulsa, cousin Karen Pratt of Martinz, CA; cousin Nelson Claytor and wife Denise Merkle of Fort Worth; cousin Glen Claytor and wife Tracy of Chilliwack, BC Canada; cousin Karen Quinn and husband Stuart of Gresham, OR; John Schwenker and wife Nancy of Boulder, CO. Others surviving include niece Christina Starkey and husband Chuck of Chandler, AZ and their children Abigail and Olivia; niece Sophie Claytor of Fort Worth, niece Lara Barney of Los Angeles, CA; niece Diana Claytor of Tulsa and nephew Andrew Claytor of Tulsa.
