Patricia Diane Haesly (nee Otvos), 87, passed away peacefully in her apartment at Beacon Hill Senior Living in Lombard, Illinois on November 8, 2025.

Born in Chicago on March 7, 1938, Patricia ("Pat"/"Patty") grew up with her younger brother, "Chick" Otvos, and her parents, Charlie and Emma Otvos, in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. She graduated from Chicago Teachers College and took classes towards her M.A. at Northwestern University. Patty was a beloved schoolteacher in the Chicago Public Schools, where she taught many grades (fifth grade was her favorite).

She married Jack Haesly (1937-1998) on July 1, 1961 and had two sons, Jay and Richard. Jack and Pat moved to Brandywine Living Association in Villa Park, where she forged deep friendships with many of the other families. When teaching positions in the western suburbs started shrinking, she became a personal banker and loan officer at Villa Park Trust and Savings and then West Suburban Bank. Patty never lost her gift for instruction and spent her time at West Suburban Bank teaching and training personal bankers who were hired after her. She also served as a formal and informal financial planner for so many of her customers, many of whom would trust no one else to help them with their banking needs or balancing their checkbooks.

Patty loved playing bridge, reading, watching plays (especially Sondheim musicals) and movies, travel, and line dancing. Her travels took her across the United States (with a particular fondness for her yearly trips to Las Vegas with her bridge playing friends) and multiple trips to Europe. Her group of lifelong friends were like sisters.

Patty is survived by sons Jay and Rich; their partners Jerry and Liesl; and her three grandchildren Xavier, Carys, and Juliet.

The family has chosen a private cremation service.
