ASHTON — Patricia "Aunt Patty" Hughes left this world November 28, 2021. Aunt Patty was born May 12, 1953 to the late, Earnest and Mary Meadows.
Lovingly known as Aunt Patty to everyone she met, she was just that, everyone's favorite aunt. She was not afraid to give you a motherly scolding but also made sure to spoil you when she could (and she always found a way).
Aunt Patty raised dozens of kids, crocheted hundreds of baby blankets, was a professional catalog shopper and kept the phone lines busy with the latest gossip.
While Aunt Patty had no biological children of her own, she had many, many children and treated them as her own in every way. Generations of children can tell you vivid stories of being at "Aunt Pat's" house while growing up.
Aunt Patty is survived by her current kiddos Benjamin and Madison Hively, Michael Salmons Jr., Dakota Towe, Mary Cardwell and her J-Bird, Jonathon Ward.
She also leaves behind three girls that she kept on their toes, especially over the last year, Sandy Towe, Tiffany Plumley — who she spent the majority of her days with — and Brittany Hively.
Aunt Patty is also survived by brother, Earl Meadows; special friends Sharon and Eugene Plumley — who could not be thanked enough for their help and love for Aunt Patty; and several nieces, nephews and friends she considered family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Garland "Toad" Hughes; sisters, Frances Sadler and Faye VanSickle and brothers, Denzil Meadows and Edward Meadows.
Services for Aunt Patty will be Wednesday, December 1 at 1 p.m. at Deal Funeral Home with visitation will be held an hour prior for friends and family. Rev. Tony Bailey will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Deal's Funeral Home — 1401 Kanawha St. Pt. Pleasant, WV 25550 — for remaining funeral expenses.
