Patricia Kaus

Patricia (Pat) Eugenia Kaus of Chadron passed away June 21, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 89. A funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 19 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, NE. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery following the service. A wake service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, July 18th at St. Patrick’s Church in Chadron, NE. Online condolences may be left at www.chamberlainchapel.com Pat Kaus (Frichtl) was born on October 6, 1935 to Thomas and Elizabeth Frichtl in Newton, IL. After graduating from Newton High School, she attended St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield, IL earning her R.N. degree. She later attended St. Louis University and received a B.S. in nursing. Following her schooling, she worked as a nurse at St. John’s Hospital, and at Weld County Hospital in Greeley, CO. While working in Greeley she met and married James A. Kaus on March 11, 1958. The couple would move to Chadron, NE in 1964. Pat soon began working at Chadron Community Hospital, where she stayed until her retirement. Pat and Jim were blessed with four sons, Thomas (Annette) Jessica (Ezra) and Kyle, Michael (Cathy) Tyler and Thomas, Phillip (Lyndi) Reed (Courtney and great grandsons Beckett and Caden), Alec (Harrison), Taylor (McKenzie), Samee (Christian) and William (Jeri) Mitchell (Amanda) and Morgan. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Christine, JoAnn, Mary, Thomas and William. She is survived by her brothers John and Paul and her sisters Barbara and Ann.
