Patricia M. Kieser (nee McGhee), 78, born in and a longtime resident of Summit, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ on Friday, August 22nd, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at St. Teresa of Avila Church for the funeral mass on Saturday, August 23rd, at 9:30 AM.
Patricia was born and raised in Summit, NJ, the daughter of Margaret (nee Fitzpatrick) and Joseph P. McGhee. She was a proud graduate of St. Teresa's School, Summit High School, and the Rutgers School of Nursing. Her passion for helping others led her to a distinguished career in nursing that spanned more than four decades. She began her work at Overlook Hospital, where she cared for countless patients with empathy and expertise, and later continued her service at Summit Medical Group, earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of those she served. Patricia retired nine years ago, leaving behind a legacy of healing and kindness.
Patricia was an avid reader and loved travelling the world. She also enjoyed board games with friends and gardening. Patricia, along with her husband John, was a longtime member of the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club, where they had a home for 15 years.
Known for her compassion, dedication, and gentle spirit, Patricia devoted her life to the care of others-both in her career as a nurse and in her unwavering support for her family and community.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, John F. Kieser; her loving children, Benjamin Kieser and Katherine Shanahan and her husband Kevin; her cherished grandchildren, Cecilia and John Henry Shanahan; and her dear siblings, Margaret Giese and Bernard, Joseph, John, and Richard McGhee.
Patricia's life was a testament to the power of quiet strength, service to others, and a deep love for her family and her friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Patricia's memory may be made to The Summit Foundation for Adele Lynch Nursing Scholarship (https://summitforever.org/scholarships) or Community Food Bank of New Jersey ( https://cfbnj.org/).
