Patricia Marra Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Ann Marra, 73, of Washington, died peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2024, in St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by love from her husband and children. She was born November 30, 1950, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late George Andrew Bott and Rosalia Motil. Pat graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1968, and then studied nursing at South Side Hospital School of Nursing. She faithfully served her community with care and compassion as an IV Nurse at Washington Hospital for 35 years until her retirement. Pat met the love of her life, Arthur Marra, in 1970 after being set up on a blind date. After a short engagement, they were excited to start their new lives together and the two were married November 27, 1970. She couldn't wait to start a family of her own. Pat's children, Danielle Lynn Patts (Henry) of Murrysville, Candace Ann Swanson (Trampas) of Middleburg, Fla., and Joseph Robert Marra II (Kimberly) of Canonsburg, meant the world to her. Pat was the ultimate sports mom, never missing the chance to cheer the loudest at band competitions, softball games, baseball games, football games, wrestling matches and track meets. She volunteered as the band nurse for trips, score keeper at softball games, and handled the concessions at baseball games. She would always be the first one to tell you how proud she was of all her children. Her most treasured role was that as a grandmother to Henry, Katelyn, Devin, Betsy Grace, Piper and Emma. She loved her time with her grandkids and loved being their grandmother, never failing to brag about each one of their academic accomplishments and sports achievements. Pat was a member of the Church of the Covenant of Washington. Everyone who knew Pat knew how much she loved to read. She had a collection of 100's of books, which turned to 100's more once she received her first Kindle. Pat also loved challenging herself and was always working on a crossword puzzle. She loved going on family vacations to the beach, watching old Westerns and Star Trek, and her favorite Pittsburgh sports teams, the Pirates and Steelers. She loved her animals, and her house was never without one. She shared this love of animals with her children and while growing up cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, mice, fish, and chinchillas were all members of the family. Pat will always be remembered for her love and compassion and the way she always made sure everyone was taken care of. Her family couldn't have asked for a better wife, mother, and grandmother. Pat's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and cat, Holly. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 22, with Pastor Danny Lutz officiating.
