Patricia Louise Martin

Patricia Louise Martin, 82, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away, Friday, July 25, 2025, at Doey's House surrounded by her family.
Born Sunday, September 13, 1942, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow V. Harner and the late Helena G. (Carbaugh) Harner.
Pat graduated from St. Maria Goretti High School in 1960 and later graduated from Mount Mercy College in Pittsburgh, PA with a BA degree. Pat was employed as a social work assistant with Washington County Welfare Board, she also worked as the social service designee and activities assistant at Avalon Manor Nursing Home. She later became the Volunteer Coordinator at Reeder's Memorial Home in Boonsboro, retiring in 1999 after 20 1/2 years. Pat was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and also served on the Board of Friends at Reeder's. Pat volunteered at Old Forge Elementary School, where she tutored children and assisted in the library.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved gardening, flowers, traveling and caring for others.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years John E. Martin, Jr. daughters, Christina L. Lewis & husband Steven, Cheryl P. Sprankle & husband David and Jennifer A. Aversa & husband Richard, brother, Timothy W. Harner & wife Gayl, grandchildren, Heather Lewis, Megan Lewis, Stephanie Smith and husband Adam, Catherine Greenwell and husband Timothy, Elizabeth Sprankle and Samuel Sprankle, half brothers, Randall Harner and Robert Harner.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 11:00 am, at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive Williamsport, MD, with the Rev. Mark A. Sandell officiating.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Private interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
