Patricia Rose "Pat" McBride

Pat McBride continues to find joy in her journey on the other side after passing away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on the evening of May 1, 2021.

Pat was born to Lane and Rozella Burton on March 10, 1950 in Kaysville, UT. She was the second of three children and as the only girl, held a special place in her dad's heart. She entertained us with many stories of her childhood in the gilded era of Kaysville. Riding horses, winter sleigh rides with her dad and Smokey the horse at the helm, playing for hours in the streets with her friends and listening to her dad play honky-tonk music on the piano. She graduated from Davis High School and went on to college at Brigham Young University. The memories and friends she made lasted a lifetime and it was a rare occasion that she didn't run into someone she knew or grew up with while she was out and about.

In 1969 Pat married Gary McBride in the Salt Lake Temple and thus embarked on a nearly 52-year adventure that saw them around the world to Taiwan during the war and back again to grow their family in the hub of Kaysville. Pat and Gary have six children and twenty-two grandchildren. Her greatest legacy and joy came from raising her kids and celebrating her grandkids. She was the heart and life of the party for everything big and small. There was no sporting event she didn't attend, no lemonade stand she didn't support, and no new purchase or project she didn't stop by to cheer on. The energy and encouragement she brought with her to every event or visit gave people confidence and pride in what they'd accomplished.

Pat was magic. Her creativity, warmth, welcoming smile and ever-present positivity spread much further than her home and had a lasting impact on generations of students at Sam Morgan Elementary. There from the very first day the school opened 42 years ago, Pat's presence began as the school's first PTA president and evolved through different volunteering opportunities to eventually being paid and given the exciting responsibility to create and run the computer lab, which she continued to do until three weeks before her passing. Her time with the kids at school was truly one of the greatest joys of her life and she often talked about her student's individual triumphs with anyone who'd listen.

Pat's life was dedicated to the service of those around her and had no bounds. From her church callings as Primary President, Relief Society President, Cub Scout leader, to complete strangers who looked lonely at a store, she was there to talk to you and brighten your day. She never tired of being of service to others. It could be 11 o'clock at night, but if you needed help finding something obscure or rare, she was guaranteed to have it in her basement "attic". If you needed someone to talk to, no matter the hour, she was there with no hesitations. In so many ways her life embodied a selfless Christ like service that was a shining example for those around her.

It is what it is, as she would say. Not one to wallow about what couldn't be changed, she spent these last two years with cancer continuing to live and experience joy in her journey. She held her head high, focused on the positive and did all she could to create memories and continue her good days here on earth. She loved every minute of her life and wouldn't have changed one thing. This held true to the very end as there was nothing she loved more than her home filled with her children and grandchildren all sharing her favorite treat of snow cones and talking about their favorite stories of past Christmas trips, 4th of July extravaganzas and Easter scavenger hunts among countless other memories she made possible.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Lane and Rozella Burton.

Pat is survived by her husband Gary, her children Chris (Jill) of Fruit Heights and their children, Kaitlyn, Jackson, Sydney and Cody. Matt of Kaysville and his children Maddie and Morgan. Heidi (Brad) of Kaysville and their children, Brooklyn, Baylee and Ty. Josh (Maggie) of Kaysville with their children Jaiden, Jacob, Allie, Zeke and Zoey. Nick (Deven) of Layton and their children, Hank, Wren and one on the way. Jon (Abbie) of Salt Lake City and their children, Molly, Jack, Jane, Emma and Annie. Siblings Bob of Kaysville, Alan of Alaska and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 11a.m. at the Kaysville Crestwood Ward, 1059 Crestwood Rd. Kaysville. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main Street, Kaysville and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
