Patricia "Patti" A. McDeid, 61, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Patti was born in Syracuse, New York on February 22, 1962 to the late Kenneth and Julia Van Etten. She dedicated over 20 years of service to USA Relay, serving the deaf and hearing impaired. Most recently, she enjoyed her position as a part-time cashier at the Liverpool Wegman's, where she received several accolades from customers who appreciated her warm greetings and exceptional service. Patti overcame many obstacles in her life. She was a pillar of strength and was admired by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Patti's determination and perseverance will live on in the hearts of her family.
She was preceded in death by father, Kenneth Bruce Van Etten; mother, Julia Mary Simmons; and brother Kenneth Mark Van Etten.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Jessica (Jack) Carter, Jennifer (David Reese) McDeid, and Judith "JJ" (Justin Shank) McDeid; sister, Suzanne "Jackie" (Tom) Ruggles; beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Ariana, Nova, Jaxon, Nyah, Kamaria, Remington; niece Haley; nephews, Travis, Cody; several Cousins, and her pet companion, Buddha.
Patti will be remembered for her beautiful and free spirit. She admired vibrant colors and unicorns. She enjoyed rock painting and music. Above all, her greatest passion in life was her daughters and grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely, deeply, and unconditionally. Patti cherished date nights and daily video chats/phone calls with her family, and frequented the Butterfly Garden of Hope in Liverpool, NY.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the team of doctors and nurses at Upstate Hospital for their extraordinary care and support.
Calling Hours will be held, Thursday September 14, 2023 from 3-5PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals located at 705 North Main Street, Syracuse NY 13212. To celebrate Patti's life and to honor her eccentricity, guests are encouraged to wear bright and cheerful colors.
