Patricia Lynn McDivitt, lovingly known to friends and family as "Trish," passed away peacefully on the morning of July 27, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Her quiet strength, generous heart, and wicked sense of humor carried her through her final days, following several years of courageously facing multiple health challenges.
Trish was born on November 27, 1956, to Gerald and Nellie Barrett, who first met at a dance at Santa Rosa High School. She grew up-and spent her entire life-in Sonoma County. It was here, in her own neighborhood, that she met the boy across the street, Eddie McDivitt, who would one day become the love of her life.
From a young age, Trish dedicated herself to caring for and feeding others. She worked as a beloved "lunch lady" at Guerneville Elementary and later Elsie Allen High School, but her real magic happened in her own home. For decades, she nourished not only the bodies but also the hearts of countless friends and family members.
Trish had a deep love for life's simple joys-tending her garden (at one point cultivating over 100 rose and fuchsia bushes), camping every summer at Doran Beach in Bodega, winning big at local bingo halls, and filling her calendar with concerts by artists ranging from Tina Turner and Patti LaBelle to Notorious B.I.G. and Dr. Dre. After closing her ceramic shop, Trish's Dishes in Sebastopol, she often joked that her dream retirement job was to be Snoop Dogg's "personal assistant."
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate, Eddie McDivitt, and her sister-in-law, Jeri McDivitt. She is survived by her sister Dennie; her children Shannon, Dan, Dave, Greg, and Joe; her in-laws Luis, Janie, Jessica and Joe; her grandchildren Olivia, Alexis, Reid, Sela, Grace, Anderson, Heidi, Salma and Bronson; and her soon-to-arrive great-grandchild.
Trish's life was a gift of love, laughter, and shared meals-a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those she touched. We take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Eddie, the love of her life, and that together they are home at last. In tribute to her unwavering spirit, let your table be a place where love is served alongside a cherished meal, and those who gather taste the generosity she embodied.
