Aunt Pat,
You and Uncle Neal were always so full of love and a zest of life that is proving difficult to be matched, but I am trying. My favorite memories are riding(flying) over the sand dunes in his bronco with Neal pointing at birds that were a blur to me while you would find their picture a book to show what I missed actually seeing. All of us laughing hysterically. Take care sweet lady, you have your own wings now. LYS

My heart breaks as I just heard about my beloved cousin Pats passing. Our last correspondence at the end of last year, she asked me to give her time to reply to my update email but I never heard back. She has been in my thoughts and prayers. My multiple visits to her and Neal´s home on Cape Hatteras were some of my most cherished trips. I wanted to go back but she told me not to due to the aftermath of the pandemic. I truly regret not just showing up!! She was a real light and wealth of knowledge. Their legacy lives on in my family!!! Becky Hixson

You were the organizer of so many wonderful birding outings, even convincing me to go "back to work" on my weekends to bird the Refuge. You introduced me to the best CBC I've ever been a part of and helped me check off more than one lifer. Thank you for all that you gave to me, my family and so many others. You will remain in my heart now as you have always been.
