Patricia Ann Nelson

Patricia A. Nelson, 87, Moorhead, MN, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.

Patricia Ann Kelly was born on January 6, 1937, to Lorin and Margaret (Schmidt) Kelly in Mankato, MN. She attended school in Mankato, graduating from Mankato Loyola High School in 1954.  She married Dale W. Nelson on January 18, 1958. In October 1958, first son Jay was born, followed by Nanci, Mike, Ann, and Kelly. The family moved to Moorhead MN in 1962, where they remained for the rest of their years.

Patricia, “Trish”, as she was lovingly known to many, worked jobs from home and provided daycare for neighborhood kids while raising her 5 children. She was a giver, always asking “Is there anything you need from me?”  She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, the Moorhead Spuds and the MSUM Dragons.

Patricia is survived by her children, Jay (Kristi) Nelson, and Nanci Nelson, of Fargo, Ann ( Dan) Kohler, Grafton ND, and Kelly Gunderson, Discovery Bay CA; sister, Katie (Jim) Keckeisen, Alexandria MN; brother, Mike (Judi) Kelly, Rochester MN; grandchildren, Matt (Erin) Nelson, Stacie (Kyle) Medenwald, Kasey, Emery and Gage Gunderson, Jennifer Kohler and Ryan Kohler; great grandchildren, Mira Jo Nelson, Harper Kohler and Lillian Kohler; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; son, Mike; sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Sal Frederick; and in-laws, Jim and Darlene Nelson.

An open house celebration of life will be held at Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service in Moorhead on Saturday, January 13, 2023, from 4 – 6 PM.  

Following the celebration, friends and family are invited to the Moorhead American Legion.
