Patricia M. O’Brien, age 89, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Heritage Assisted Living. She was born December 6, 1933, in Royal Oak, Michigan the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Peters) Schnarr and was a 1952 graduate of St. Mary Catholic School in Royal Oak. Patricia married Robert J. O’Brien on October 2, 1954, at St. Philip Catholic Church in Battle Creek. She was a lifelong member of St. Philip, was active in the Leila Follies for many years and worked in Senior Services at Leila Hospital prior to her retirement. She also loved to travel and was an avid bowler, however she always said her life’s work was raising her ten children. Patricia is survived by her children: Terry (Merci) O’Brien of Miami Gardens, FL, Colleen (George) Starring of Port Huron, Kelly (Paul) Downey of Portage, Tim (Covey) O’Brien of Oak Harbor, WA, Shannon (Kevin) Wheeler of Ruther Glen, VA, Robin (Gregg) Hurley of Jenson Beach, FL, Kevin O’Brien of Battle Creek, Patrick O’Brien of Shelby Township and Robert (Carol) O’Brien of Sturgis; twenty seven grandchildren and twenty five great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis Wiegers of Troy and many nieces and nephews including a special nephew to her, Mark Steinbrunner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert on June 10, 2008, son Dennis O’Brien on January 15, 2021, and her brother Paul Schnarr. The family will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with the Rosary to be recited at 6:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, October 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
