She dedicated many years to the Richard B. Russell Agricultural Research Center, where her contributions were highly valued and respected.

She is survived by her devoted brother, John Michael Fortson, and his wife, Fran, of Washington, GA. Patricia was a loving aunt to her nieces, Jaclyn Fortson Smith and her husband, Nickalas, of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Libby Fortson Partridge and her husband, Mel, of Lincolnton, Georgia. Her legacy of love continues through her great-nieces, Destiny Alexander, Charlee Alexander, and Shelbi Partridge, and her great-nephews, Christian Alexander and Wade Partridge.
