Ms. Patterson was born in 1935 in Capon Bridge (Cold Stream) WV, daughter of the late William and Ethyl (Sine) Wolford. She was a graduate of Capon Bridge High School, where she was a cheerleader and star player/leading scorer for her high school basketball team. Ms. Patterson was owner of Pat's Cab, and her taxi was her family. Although her cab business was a full-time commitment, she still enjoyed tending to her flower beds and watching Joel Olsteen Ministries on TV. Ms. Patterson always looked forward to traveling with her husband, especially to Pigeon Forge, TN and the beach. Above all else, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Elwood Davis Patterson, whom she married on March 20, 1954 in Hagerstown, MD, preceded her in death in 2000.
Surviving are daughters, Rhonda Copenhaver (Daniel), Terri Pruitt (the late Ron Pruitt), and Kimberly "Kim" Stanley (Jeff); son, Steve Patterson; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and sisters, Shirley, Kay, and Bonnie.
Along with her parents and husband, Ms. Patterson is preceded in death by a son, Donnie Patterson; son-in-law, Ron Pruitt; sister, Evelyn; and brothers, Verlis, Brown, Blaine, Donald, Reggie, Larry, and Gary.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A graveside service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Mount Hebron Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Patrick officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ms. Patterson's memory to SPCA, 111 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601.
