Patricia Colleen Santmyer (née Jenkins), 95, of South Strabane Township, PA, formerly of Brentwood and West Mifflin, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Transitions Healthcare in Washington after a short illness.
She was born in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 24, 1930, to Mary Jenkins (née Kanya) and Edward Francis Jenkins. Patricia attended Brentwood High School. She married Walter Henry Santmyer, Jr. on July 31, 1946, when she was 16 years old, and they were married until his death in 1992.
Patricia was also predeceased by her parents; her son-in-law Stephen Robert Zak; her brother Edward John Jenkins; and her sister Bernice Ursula McCarthy. She is survived by her children Mary Catherine Zak of South Strabane Township, PA and Daniel Edward Santmyer (Mickey) of Jefferson Hills, PA; her grandchildren Colleen Hess (Christopher) of Chartiers Township, PA ; Amanda Santmyer of Pittsburgh; and Sara McElhinny (Joseph) of Jefferson Hills; and 6 great-grandchildren: Veronica, Stephen, Cecilia and Christopher Hess; and Conor and Nolan McElhinny. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews also survive.
Patricia especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When her husband was still alive, she enjoyed traveling to Florida with her son, Dan, and his family. In her later years, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law. Patricia was a life-long Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved her dogs, especially her mini-dachshunds.
There will be no visitation per Patricia's wishes. Burial will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with her husband, a veteran of the Navy.
