Patricia Nell Selby, was born to John Clarence and Myrtie Gregory on July 11, 1936 in Hood, TX and died on November 30, 2025, at her home in Era, TX. She was the youngest and last living among her eight siblings. Pat lived, worshiped, and raised her family in the community of Era, TX.

Pat Selby graduated from Era High School in 1954, where she enjoyed playing basketball and began working at the Cooke County Extension Service and later worked at National Supply until its closing. Afterwards, Pat started a new culinary career in her home with “Pat’s Pastries,” where she baked for people around the community. She said once that she made 12 pie crusts for $12. She then decided to turn in her apron and went to work for Cooke County College, where she retired at the age of 62.

Shortly after graduating high school, Pat chose to begin her family, raising three energetic boys in small town Texas. As their mother, Greg, Michael, and Scott were Pat’s pride and joy, as well as her occasional worry.

Pat lived as a devoted Methodist, faithfully raising her boys in church. Pat was a member of Era Community Church, and played both the organ and piano (her favorite) for this congregation for decades. Era Community Church proudly describes Pat Selby as our resident historian, “Church Lady,” and most importantly, our Matriarch.

She loved her church family, her many friends, and “going to coffee with the ladies.” She also loved to travel, knit, cook, and watch sports. Pat was easy to love—she had a heart of gold and showed that to many. She will be dearly missed.

Pat Selby is preceded in death by her mother and father: John and Myrtie Gregory, and her brothers and sisters: Ruth M. Watts, Thelma L. Odom, Wanda L. Steadman, William H. Gregory, Helen L. Felker, Thomas R. Gregory, Royce D. Gregory, and Mira J. Gregory.

She is survived by her sons: Greg and Michelle Selby, Mike Selby and Shana Holloway, Scott and Rhonda Selby.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amber Cappel, Beau Brooks, Bradley Selby, Brittany Rauschuber, Cameron Brooks, Loubee Zielinski, Mike Selby, Parker Edmonds, Sara Selby, Stephanie Zielinski, and Zack Zielinski.

Finally, Pat is survived by her great-grandchildren: Aven, Blakely, Ebby, Ella, Judd, Wrenlee, and Wyatt, as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the Selby family asks for your prayerful consideration in donating to Pat’s charity of choice, Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
