Obituary of Patricia Frances (Wurst) Spriggs
Age 87, passed away on September 11, 2022. She grew up in Jordan and Shakopee, MN, and maintained friendships from there all her life. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a history degree, and then worked as a secretary at the Minneapolis Star. She married John R. Spriggs in 1958, and they raised their family in Minneapolis. Pat's Catholic faith was very important to her, and while raising 6 kids she was a volunteer at Kenny School and Park, Annunciation Church, Camp Fire Girls, and many other places. She was a patient and creative preschool teacher for many years. Pat loved to talk and tell stories. She loved to get together with her friends to talk, eat and play cards. She loved watching the Twins, Timberwolves and Lynx. One of the best times of her life was when she and John took their many trips to Florida in retirement. She had a remarkable memory and was exceptionally kind and generous. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Nellie and Al Wurst, her brother Dennis Wurst, and her husband of 60 years, John. She is survived by her children Ross (Laura), Margaret (Jim Hanneman), Mary, Martha (Greg Cutshall), John (Megan) and Ann Granquist (Ben). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Ann Tompkins and Carol Wurst, 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 on Friday, September 30th at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. So. Minneapolis 55419. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Sharing & Caring Hands. Thank you to the caring staff at Masonic Home and at Fairview Accent Care.
