Patricia Steinebach Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 13, 2025.
Patricia Louise Steinebach, 79, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away with her children by her side at AdventHeath Palm Coast, Florida on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:36am. Patti was born on December 28, 1945, in Traverse City to Maxine Hooper and James Jerrett of Old Mission. James was a Cherry farmer and carpenter and Maxine a nurse. She had two siblings.

Patti graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1963. In 1966 she married James Steinebach of Traverse City. They had 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Patti worked several jobs during her life retiring from the Sears Service Center in 2002. Her favorite job was that of mother and grandmother. Patti loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids and was known for always having a Tootsie Pop or two in her purse for the little ones.

Jim and Patti took their children to Florida every year since 1978 for vacation and the Daytona 500. So, it was no surprise when they purchased a lot just north of Daytona and set up a winter residence. In 1989, they started spending time during the winter in Florida and by 2006 they were spending five to six months in the Sunshine state.

Jim and Patti had river property on the Boardman River where summers were spent. It was tradition to camp most weekends with the kids, grandkids, and family friends. There was plenty of tubing, bonfires, good food, and camaraderie. Much time and many laughs were shared.

Patti is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Steinebach, daughters Debbie (Tim) O'Brien, Sherry (Scott) Neil, Lisa (Dean) Otto, grandchildren Heather (Mike) Wilson of Fenton, Daniel (Taylor) O'Brien of Interlochen, Alisha (Jeff) Skupien of Mesick, James Amidon of Mesick, Ashley (Brian) Schmuker of Lake Ann, Shelby (Dennis) Fox of Interlochen, Lauren and Laine Otto of Traverse City, great-grandchildren Connor and Logan Wilson, Dean and Ronin O'Brien, Owen and Declan Schmuker, Tara Miller, Scott and Isaac Fox, Jake and Kylie Robinson, Lakeland Amidon, Maxwell Skupien, Ben and Abel Amidon, Dante Croley and Enzo Sumrall, brother Jeff Jerrett of Buckley, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Maxine Jerrett, sister Geri Jerrett, and daughter Jerri Amidon.

A celebration of life will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 409 W Fourteenth St, Traverse City, MI 49684 on May 17, 2025 from 12pm-3pm.
