Patricia Ann Russell Wiles, 91, of
Osage Beach, MO, passed quietly amongst her family, Wednesday November 19, 2025.
Pat, as known to those who loved her, was born October 22,1934 in Sinton Texas to Fred and Ester Russell. She graduated High School and soon set her cap on young Dwight Eldon Wiles from Weeping Water, Nebraska, whom she met on a blind date. Young Dwight was stationed in Texas at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station.
They were married August 12,1954 in her home town of Sinton, where they stayed until Dwight was released from duty March 1956. They moved back to Dwights family farm in Weeping Water to be near his family and start a farming life. They stayed there for a while before moving to Ponca State Park Neb, where Dwight was the Assistant Superintendent. Pat stayed busy raising 3 boys when the Texas Bride said NO MORE COLD. In 1967 they moved the family to The Lake of the Ozarks, bought/ ran the Cozy Cove Resort on Cove Rd in Osage Beach MO, located behind Vista Grande. Most of the 9 little cabins are still there that they rented out to Weekenders looking for the excitement of The Lake area. The cabins still have C's on the shutters that Dwight placed on them during that time.
The Lake was young and full of opportunities in the 60s and the resort was a family affair. Pat running the household duties, laundry and such. Dwight and the older boys working around the grounds with odd jobs, boat rental. When the work was done the boys learned to swim, boat and love the Lake area. All 3 have stayed and made their homes here.
Pat and Dwight sold the resort in 1975 with the help from Lee Mace, who helped them buy a Burgers Smokehouse Franchise, and located it at the junction of 42 /54 in Osage Beach 1976. The whole family had been working and enjoying the Lee Mace Ozark Opry when Lee approached them and helped them get a loan at the then Bank of the Lake of the Ozarks. This started their journey with Bugers Smokehouse. The little building was successful until McDonald's moved into the area. They then when built a newer bigger building at 54 and Nichols Rd. They enjoyed that business until 2003, when Pat and Dwight decided it was time to retire. They sold the business and moved to the Shady Slope area at the end of KK.
Over the years, even before retirement, Pat and Dwight became Snowbirds, traveling back and forth from Texas, Florida and Arizona. They bought a motor home, met, traveled with many couples who became life long friends.
A richer life was not lived by a woman and her family.
Dwight died January 2021 and Pat moved into the Garden Gate Estates Independent Living off of KK. She settled in and made a new life for herself. Meeting women who were also widows with a lot to still give. She enjoyed her time there immensely. Daily activities, shopping, outtings and restaurants. She often said she could of stayed in her home but she would of been lonely.
Pat is survived by her fiercely loved boys, Kerry (Emily), Kirk (Darla) and Kyle.
Grandchildren Kara (Jeff), Bethany (Aaron), Cody (Becky), Josh (Amber), Colt (Rizza) Brooks (Niki) Megan (Randy).
Great grandchildren Ava, Avah,Connor, Drake, Emme, Finley, Harper, Jackson, Lucy, Nora, Owen, Wesle
Blessed beyond many with a loving family, Pat will be missed daily.
