Patricia (Pat) Viola Wong passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 78, following a courageous, decades-long battle with cancer.
Born in Shamrock, TX, to Sam Templin, Jr. and Maggie Oleta Templin, Pat's family moved to Dallas while she was in elementary school. She was a proud graduate of Crozier Tech, Class of 1966. During her high school years, Pat was a force of nature-serving as Head Cheerleader, Sports Editor, Y-Teen Officer, and even as an alternate Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader during the era when the team utilized local high school students.
Following graduation, Pat entered the workforce, eventually building a successful 23-year career in the investment banking industry as an executive assistant with firms including Rauscher Pierce Refsnes and Southwest Securities, Inc. She was known for her incredible work ethic and her ability to type detailed notes with precision. Later, she served the City of Balch Springs as Secretary for the Planning and Zoning Director and City Inspector before retiring.
Pat was known for her boisterous laugh, her strong will, and her sociability; she truly never met a stranger. She loved jigsaw puzzles, Elvis Presley, and her friends-especially her "sisters from another mother," Brenda and Carolyn. While she could be stubborn which undeniably drove her loved one's crazy at times, she loved just as fiercely as she lived.
A true fighter, Pat, began her battle with cancer in September 2003. She was a medical marvel, becoming one of the longest-living survivors of Follicular Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, while also battling bladder and lung cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gene, her brother Jimmy, and her sister Claudia. She is survived by her sons, Michael and Kevin; daughter-in-law, Lisa; brother, Bobbie; and her beloved grandchildren: Dustin, Jaryn, Cody, Kevin Jr., Michael Jr., and Bree, along with many nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to thank the staff and friends at Silver Springs Senior Living Community for their companionship in her final years. Pat will be deeply missed.
