Patricia Wright Obituary

Patricia Wright

1953 - 2025

- Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Patricia Orton Wright passed through the veil peacefully surrounded by her forever love Robert and her 5 children on December 23, 2025, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Patti met her illness with strength, grace and unwavering faith in the Savior, Jesus Christ.

Family was the heart of Patti's life. She was born on April 13, 1953, to goodly parents like Nephi of old, Pat and Clarissa Orton, who taught her the values of faith, hard work, joy and service-principles that guided every season of her life. She was a devoted daughter and sister, a loving wife, and cherished her role as a nurturing mother, grandmother and aunt whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She delighted in family gatherings and treasured traditions. Music played an important role throughout her life, especially singing and dancing with her sisters and brothers.

Patti met her forever love, Rob, after his second attempt at arranging a blind date, followed by an evening of dancing cheek to cheek that marked the beginning of a beautiful eternal companionship. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple and went on to celebrate 52 years of marriage, grounded in faith, devotion, and enduring love. Together they raised five children in the treasured home Rob and Patti built for their family on 10th East-a place filled with laughter, gospel teaching, tradition, and unwavering love.

All Patti ever desired was to be a wife and a mother, callings she understood as sacred and divinely appointed. She poured her heart and soul into magnifying these eternal roles, nurturing her family with Christ like love, patience, and faith. Guided by her testimony of the Savior and His gospel, she served quietly and faithfully within her home, finding her greatest joy in creating a Christ-Centered Home of peace, learning, and love. Through her example, Patti taught that the highest measure of discipleship is found in loving and serving one's family.

Patti had a special gift for teaching and nurturing children. As a young adult, she taught dance in her basement; as a young mother, she taught Joy School in her home; and later, as an empty nester, she taught preschool both in her community and to her grandchildren at home. She shared enthusiasm, creativity, and love with every child she taught.

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, was the focus of Patti's life and influenced every decision she made. Her faith was lived daily through devoted service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society president; was called to serve as an MLS Senior Missionary with her husband; served as a Salt Lake Temple worker, ministering sister, and in many other callings. Service was woven into her character, expressed both in formal callings and in quiet acts of love.

Patti is preceded in death by her beloved parents Alton "Pat" and Clarissa Jorgensen Orton, older brothers, Kenneth, Jerry(Donna), Elton, her sister Mary's husband Gary, and nephews Jay and Kenji. She now joyfully returns to her loving Heavenly Father and Savior, reunited with those who have gone before her.

Patti is survived by her devoted husband, Robert Larsen Wright, and her loving children: Adam (Abby), Clark (Tracey), Allison (Daniel), Katie (Eric), and Pattyanne (Cory). She also leaves behind 23 cherished grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, her 3 sisters, Mary, Carol(Ren), Jan, sister-in-law Florence, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, whose lives were blessed by her love.

Patti's legacy is one of faith, family, discipleship, service, music, love and joy. She will be deeply missed. Her spirit lives on in traditions kept, songs sung, acts of service given, and in her enduring testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with whom she developed a deep, personal relationship.

Our family would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all the nurses and doctors from Huntsman Cancer Institute and Huntsman at Home Hospice for their dedicated service, expertise, and compassionate care. We are especially grateful for the extraordinary love and attention shown by Dr. Kevin Jones and Mary Smith, RN, whose care went above and beyond, bringing comfort, peace, and kindness to Patti and our family during her 3-year cancer battle and final days. Their devotion and support will always be remembered.

Viewing and Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Building located at 4366 S.1500 E. SLC UT 84124. Viewing will be on Friday, December 26th from 6-8pm and on Saturday, December 27th from 9-10:30am with the funeral starting at 11am. Graveside service will be immediately following the funeral services at Elysian Gardens 1075 E 4580 S SLC UT 84117.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Patti! She was one of my closest friends, elementary through Kearns high school. She was my roommate at BYU one year where I saw her love begin for Rob. Rob, I pray that you and your family will be comforted at this sad time!!!
Love to you all Chris Lunt Jones

My heart is broken. Patti was my sweet buddy when we served together in the Salt Lake temple. She radiated love and kindness and always made me feel like the most special person on the planet. It was clear in her service that she knows the Savior well. I love her dearly and will always remember her.

Dear Robert and family, losing this sparkling spirit in this life is so hard, but her presence is everlasting.
Her countenance was pure love and kindness. Her example of living the path that was set out for her by the Father was never wavering, genuine, and blessed so many.
She left a sweet imprint on my heart, and for that I will be forever grateful.
All of you that she loved and cherished, will have the eternities together, and that is pure joy
God bless you all as you begin your journey of remembrance. The love and happy memories will see you through and bring you peace.
