Patricia Ann “Pat” Yale, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Akron on April 13, 1934, Pat grew up in Cuyahoga Falls. At a young age, she married her husband Robert F. Yale in 1950 and after a few years in Akron, they made their home in Green. In those early years of their marriage, they had the wonderful help of her loving aunt Flo. For many years, after they moved to their farmhouse in 1962, Pat and Bob ran and operated Yale’s Hillside Park on Pickle Road in Green. Many families remember it fondly. Pat also worked for over 20 years at May Brothers grocery store in Lakemore. Pat was an excellent cook and worked alongside her husband Bob in a wonderful garden for over 60 years. She and Bob enjoyed many great trips around the country with her sister Marie and brother-in-law Punner. Pat enjoyed volunteering for the local chapter of AARP for many years. She also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers. Pat was inquisitive and had a lot of good, old fashioned know-how and worked on many arts and crafts and home projects. She had a wonderful laugh and smile and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Preceded in death by her parents John and Marie DeGrella, daughter Linda Hamblin, brother John, and sisters Dodie and Lou, Pat is survived by her loving husband of over 75 years Robert F. Yale; sister Marie Smallwood; daughters Lois Miller (Tom) and Patty; son in law Jeff Hamblin; grandsons Dustin (Leanne) and Sean; great grandsons Alex and Braden; brother-in-law Bill Giesin; many nieces and nephews; and friend Christina.
A heartfelt, special thanks to caregivers and friends Angie, Alecia, Becky, and Tera; special thanks to Dr. David L. Jackson for his care and guidance; and thanks, also, to the wonderful professionals of Crossroads Hospice.
Friends are invited for visitation on September 12th at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N Canton Rd, Akron, Ohio 44305). Her Memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment at Greensburg Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Green Good Neighbors.
