Patrick Barkley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cornejo Funeral Home & Crematory - Wellington on Mar. 28, 2026.
Patrick Lynn "Pat" Barkley, 67, passed away at his home in Argonia, Kansas on March 26, 2026. Born in Wichita, Kansas to Harold and Diane (Crosswaite) Barkley on February 1, 1959, Pat was a dedicated and loyal man. His journey took him from Wichita to Denver, back to Kansas, then around the world with the U.S. Marine Corps, and finally to Argonia, where he planted his roots. He was known for having a green thumb, nurturing and growing both flowers and vegetables in his garden. His ability to create did not stop in the garden. Pat enjoyed being a home brewer, making beer, wine, and pop for others to enjoy. In his younger days, he assembled many model military airplanes, his dedication to detail reflecting his own years of service.

Pat was renowned for his mechanical skills, a trait that kept many family and friend's vehicles on the road. He was a dedicated supervisor at the Sumner County Road and Bridge Department for over 30 years, retiring in 2022. But his true dedication lay in his children and grandchildren. Their smiles and laughter were his greatest achievements, the reason he woke up each day. His love for them was steady and reliable. Pat's life was filled with generous acts, funny anecdotes, and a dedicated spirit. His love for his family and friends was unwavering, and his impact on those around him will be deeply remembered.

Pat is survived by his daughter, Tara Lamb and husband Aaron of Norman, Oklahoma; daughter, Edana Barkley of El Dorado, Kansas; daughter, Alaynna Barkley of McPherson, Kansas; son, Colin Barkley of Argonia, Kansas; his grandchildren: Breckyn and Blair, Orion and Kellan, and Keegan and Logan; his brother, Thomas Barkley and wife Dian of El Dorado, Kansas; brother, Kelly Barkley and wife Ann of Wellington, Kansas; sister, Shirley Horsch and husband Terry of Wellington, Kansas; sister, Erin Winkle and husband Randy of El Dorado, Kansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Diane Barkley, and sister, Tammy Barkley.

A rosary will be held for Patrick on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 10:00 am with the funeral mass following at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 217 N 6th Street, Conway Springs, Kansas. Interment with military honors will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Conway Springs, Kansas.
