Patrick R. Berben
January 20, 1958 ~ June 9, 2024
Wallkill, NY
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick Berben on June 9th, 2024 at the age of 66. Patrick passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, NY, in 1958, Patrick was the youngest child of Mary and Edwin Berben, and the cherished brother of Ron, Terri, and Eddie.
With a zest for life embodied by his favorite quote, "he who dies with the most toys wins," Patrick embraced each day with a hunger for adventure, while his generosity knew no bounds.
In July of 1986, Patrick married the love of his life and soul mate, Leona. Together, they raised two children, Peter and Felicia, who were the lights of his life. His family expanded with the arrival of his granddaughter Loghen, who brought immeasurable joy to Patrick's life, and he also shared a special bond and friendship with his son-in-law, Will Kim. He also found constant companionship and comfort in his faithful canine friends, Alba and Luna. He made friends easily wherever he went and was always the life of the party.
For 38 years, he dedicated himself to his work as a railroad conductor, touching the lives of countless commuters and colleagues with his smile, sense of humor, and warmth.
Patrick's life was also enriched by his passions outside of work. He found joy in navigating the open waters, discovering new destinations, and cherishing moments with loved ones. Whether soaking up the Florida sun during winters or embracing the serenity of Lake George in the summers, Patrick embraced every moment with gratitude and never-ending cheerfulness.
Patrick's legacy is one of love, laughter, and adventure. He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Plattekill, NY on Friday, June 21 at 11 AM.

I will always remember the wonderful and crazy times we had in Highland and when you moved to Wallkill the fun continued. You and Leona are so full of life and you are always on the go. I am so very sad that you have traveled up to Heaven. You fought so hard and now it is time to rest. I will miss you very much. Love you always. Alyson Magurno

You fought the hard fight right to the end, Pat. We'll miss you terribly, but our lives were blessed by having you as our friend and brother over all these decades. RIP, bro. You earned it.
