Patrick F. Berry January 13, 1946 – December 16, 2025
Patrick F. Berry, age 79, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025 at CVPH.
He was born in
Clayton, New York on January 13, 1946, to Benton and Alberta Berry.
Patrick lived a life defined by devotion to his family, loyalty to a small circle of cherished friends, and an enduring sense of humor that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. If you were privileged enough to be in his inner circle you knew him as "Grampy," "Stooge," "Pat" or "the Bear."
Patrick was married to the love of his life, Bonnie (Latremore) Berry, for 57 years, building a family that was his greatest pride and joy. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always present, always supportive, and always ready with a laugh or a perfectly timed "Patism" - his own unique euphemisms that became part of family lore.
As a young man, Patrick loved playing baseball and football, a passion that reflected his strength, determination, and team spirit. That same pride and enthusiasm carried through his lifelong love of sports cars, which he meticulously maintained and proudly drove. His cars were unmistakable around town, often identified by his memorable vanity plates, including KELLYDAY and, most recently, IPROCESS.
Patrick served six years in the Army Reserves and dedicated over 20 years to public service, as a Plattsburgh City Police Officer and Firefighter until 1987. After his retirement, Pat remained active and engaged, working as a Process Server for many years and was the Superintendent of Riverside Cemetery, always staying busy. He was proud to be a 60-year member of the American Legion.
He also found happiness in life's simple pleasures: spending time hunting, caring for his cars, enjoying long drives, cooking meals for those he loved, and enjoying a beer or two. These routines reflected his steady, thoughtful nature and his appreciation for doing things well and with care.
Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie (Latremore) Berry; his daughter, Christine G. Peters, and her husband, Benjamin; his son, Matthew P. Berry, and his wife, Tiffany; and his four adored grandchildren, Bella, Greyson, Violet, and Mallory, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride. His special sister-in-law, Beverly Jabaut and her husband, Greg will also keep him in their hearts.
Patrick's sharp wit, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed but forever remembered. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter echoed, and the family he so dearly loved.
Per his wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patrick's honor to the American Legion Post 1619 or the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date so he can take his final ride in his Dodge Hellcat, fast of course.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055.
