Patrick A. Brennan, aged 87 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Patrick, "Paddy" was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1938. Paddy emigrated to Canada in 1960 before settling in Chicago where he married the late Joan Connolly Brennan in 1963.
Loving father of Kelly (Dan Divis) Patricia (Ron Mazukelli) devoted Granddad to Emily, Owen, Emmett, Eamonn and Molly whom he adored beyond measure.
Son of the late Joseph and Jane, cherished brother to his late siblings, Joe (Birdie,) May (Matty,) John (Liza,) Jane (Christy,) Frank, Rosie (John,) and Dinah (Paddy.) Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and a wonderful friend to all who had the pleasure to know him. He shared many happy years with his longtime companion, the late Pat Nino.
Paddy worked as a fishmonger in Dublin and Toronto, before starting a career as a painter for the City of Chicago as well as the Chicago Park District. Pat was grateful for the opportunities that this great country and the City of Chicago afforded him. As the painter of the field at Soldier's Field and a lifelong Chicago Bears Fan, the proudest moment of his career was painting the Bears logo on the 50 yard line during the 1985 Playoffs.Pat Brennan was a gift to all who knew him. There was no one with a sharper wit, a more amazing sense of humor, a deeper love for family and a more generous heart. He was very grateful for the life he worked so hard to create for himself and his family in America. Paddy will forever be remembered for his love of music. Though Paddy has left this world, the sound of his voice will live on forever echoing in the hearts of those who love and admire him. Paddy's radiant optimism and unwavering positivity lit up every room he entered and warmed the hearts of those he loved. Pat Brennan was an extraordinary man. Rest peacefully Paddy and as he always said, "know you're loved." ). Visitation to be held at Cooney Funeral Home on Thursday October 2. 3-8 pm .
