I knew Pat because he was my mother's best friend. He was very kind, funny, and always concerned for others. My mother Carrie has been worried. They talk over the phone at least once a week and she hasn't heard back from him in a while. This news will hurt. She had nothing but kind words about him. Our condolences from my family to yours.
