ABBEVILLE - A mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. John Church in Henry, honoring the life of Patrick James Chauvin, 83, who passed away on Saturday November 23, 2024 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Lafayette, LA.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., on Wednesday November 27, 2024 from 9:30 AM until 1:30 PM when the procession will depart for church.. Reverend Gregory Chauvin will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Bancker Cemetery 18900 Live Oak Road Abbeville, LA. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be John M. Chauvin, Nathan Griffin, Michael Duhon, Joey Duhon and Clayton Duhon. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Chauvin, Jr. and Ronald Chauvin.
Patrick was born on March 23, 1941 as one of a set of twins in Henry, Louisiana. He graduated from Henry High School.
After graduation, Patrick enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent time in Okinawa, Japan. After completion of his military service, he returned to Louisiana and began working as a machinist in the oil industry. He moved to Georgia and learned a new trade. He began a new career as an Electronic Technician then returned to Henry after retiring from work.
Patrick enjoyed traveling with Elaine and exploring new places.
He loved cooking gumbo and inviting family and friends over to eat. He enjoyed going out to various restaurants and sampling different cuisines.
Patrick was a strong person of faith, devoted to his church, and a very proud military veteran.
In his later years, he developed dementia and relocated to an assisted living facility. During this time, Patrick enjoyed arts & crafts, fishing, and bingo.
Patrick is survived by his son, John M. Chauvin and his wife Carol; two step sons, Michael Duhon and Joey Duhon; grandchilldren (Meghan Stevens, Callam Chauvin, Ricky Greenwood, and Clayton Duhon).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Tapkenhinrichs Chauvin; his daughter, Pattie C. Landry; his parents, Margaret Dupre Chauvin and Danny J. Chauvin Sr.; brothers, Danny J. Chauvin, Jr.; Albert Chauvin, Sr. and Nelson Chauvin, Sr.; and sisters, Eva C. DeHart; Patricia Ann Chauvin; and Dolly Marie Chauvin.
